ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE TRANSACTION FOR A PUBLIC SECTOR CLIENT

Challenge

A large district town in Bavaria asked us for advice on the remunicipalisation of its electricity and gas networks. The project goal was to give support during the whole transaction process: evaluating the profitability, participating in political decision-making processes and to support in negotiations with the sell-side.

VALUE TO THE CLIENT

The transactions were successfully completed on schedule and at very good conditions. The objectives were achieved, and the political committees approved the transaction.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach comprises three components.

The first component is the assessment of the feasibility of the transaction and the development of a business plan.

The second component is the support of political decision-making since the municipal structure requires specific committees to be passed through.

The third central component is the support in negotiations with stakeholders, such as the sell-side and with future cooperation partners.

WHAT COMES NEXT

The acquisitions of the energy infrastructures are the basis for further development and proactive shaping of the city. In the future, further busines models are planned to be developed, thus enabling the city to increase the active control of the infrastructures and conditions that are central to the citizens.
