DIGITIZATION OF A GROUP’S CORE BUSINESSES AND DIVERSIFICATION OF THE BUSINESS PORTFOLIO THROUGH ADDING INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES.
We designed and launched a corporate lab with high degrees of autonomy. It operates with two main missions:
We built a corporate lab with an extensive track-record in group-wide digitalization projects, a structured investment process, a stable dealflow leading to a tailored portfolio of startups and the capabilities to develop own startups within an internal company building program. From day 1 we built a self-sufficient organizational backbone for the lab. We also trained group-personnel to lead digital projects which have been developed jointly with the corporate lab.
The digitalization projects range from the launch of a digital workplace culture, the design and implementation of a center of excellence for robotic process automation, the deployment of an analytics unit providing real-time dashboards for operations, projects focusing on autonomous transport of general cargo and trailers, to intelligent routing of last-mile cargo bikes.
The corporate venture capital unit was positioned as a regional partner for startups, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs. We put a physical coworking space for portfolio startups and company building projects into operation, screened hundreds of startups, built an investment portfolio, and hosted three company building projects.
Within the remaining project time we will prepare and finalize the transition of the corporate lab to internal management personnel, institutionalize a digital products unit within the operational business to coordinate the growing digital agenda, incorporate company building projects and complete the startup portfolio.
